XgenOffice for Windows (Beta): the desktop office suite with AI, free with every paid plan

XgenOffice is now available for Windows as a Beta, and it is free with every paid XgenPlus plan. There is no extra license cost and nothing to buy. If your domain is on a paid plan, you can install it today from our download page. It is not part of the one-month trial.

It is a desktop office suite for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files in one window. It also has an optional AI assistant that can draft, edit and explain things as you work. You do not need the AI to use XgenOffice, and the editors work fully without it.

Four editors in one window

Each file opens in its own tab, next to a Home screen that lists your recent files, starred files and projects.

  • Docs opens and saves .docx files. It has the ribbons you expect, including tables, charts, track changes, comments, a table of contents and export to PDF.
  • Sheets opens and saves .xlsx files, with formulas, charts, sorting and filtering, conditional formatting and pivot tables. Older .xls and .csv files open as a converted copy.
  • Slides opens and saves .pptx files, with themes, transitions, animations and a presenter view.
  • PDF reads and marks up PDFs. You can highlight, underline, add notes, fill forms, draw or type a signature, add a watermark, and rotate, delete, extract or reorder pages.

The apps work on standard Microsoft Office files, so you can keep sharing documents with people who use Office. The editors are built to change only what you edit and to leave the rest of the file as it was. If a save could not keep something safely, the app stops and tells you instead of quietly dropping it.

The optional AI assistant

A ZenithAI panel sits beside your file in every app. It is optional: use it when it helps and ignore it when it does not. Type what you want in your own words, and the assistant replies in the language you write in.

  • In Docs, ask it to draft, rewrite, translate, summarize or fix formatting. Select a passage first and the edit applies to just that part. A Track changes switch shows its edits as tracked changes you can accept or reject, and a Roll back button undoes a whole AI change.
  • In Slides, describe the deck you need. The assistant asks a few quick questions about audience and tone, then builds the slides one by one. You can also ask it to tighten a slide, check the deck for typos or suggest design ideas.
  • In Sheets, attach a file or point at your data and ask for a summary, a new sheet or a formula. Changes are applied straight away with an Undo button. They are not written to the file until you save with Ctrl+S.
  • In PDF, ask for a summary or the key points of a long report, and have passages highlighted for you.

How to get it

  1. Download the Windows installer from the XgenPlus download page. The current version is 0.11.10 Beta, and the file is about 144 MB.
  2. Run the installer and open XgenOffice.
  3. Sign in with your XgenPlus account. You confirm the sign-in with a TOTP code from the XgenPlus mobile app, the same app you use for your XgenPlus account. The install and sign-in guide in the Help Center shows each step.
  4. Only if you want the AI assistant: it is switched on separately, with an API key, either a ZenithAI key or any other OpenAI-compatible key. Open Settings, paste the key into the API key box, press Save, and use Test connection to check it. The key is stored encrypted on your computer, and the AI key guide has the details.

The app checks for new versions by itself. When one is ready it asks you to update, and you restart to finish.

What free means here

XgenOffice is included with every paid XgenPlus plan, and it is for paid plans only. A mailbox that is still on the one-month trial is not included until the domain moves to a paid plan. Using the editors costs nothing extra, and you do not need a key or any AI to open, edit and save your files.

The AI assistant is separate. It needs its own API key, and AI credits are not part of your XgenPlus plan. Your AI provider may charge for its use under its own terms. The AI buttons are marked as using credits, and the assistant tells you when credits run out. Your files and the editors are not affected either way.

What to expect from a Beta

This is an early release, and we would like your feedback. During the Beta it comes without support or warranty, and both start with the final release. The XgenOffice for Windows guide in the Help Center covers the app, and there is a troubleshooting page too. A few things to know today:

  • It is for Windows only for now.
  • Some buttons in the Sheets ribbon are greyed out and marked as coming soon.
  • Sheets builds summaries from formulas that point at your data. It does not create a native Excel PivotTable through the assistant.
  • PDF has no text recognition (OCR), redaction or compression yet.
  • Macros are not supported. Embedded objects and some advanced Word features show as protected content and cannot be edited.

Tell us what works and what does not through your usual XgenPlus support contact, or write to us from the contact page.

Yes, with every paid XgenPlus plan. There is no extra license cost. It is not included for mailboxes on the one-month trial until the domain moves to a paid plan. The optional AI assistant needs a separate API key, and AI credits are not included in the plan. The Beta comes without support or warranty.
Which Windows version and files does XgenOffice support?
The Beta is a Windows installer, currently version 0.11.10. It opens and saves Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx) and PowerPoint (.pptx) files and reads and marks up PDFs.
Do I need to sign in to use XgenOffice, and is AI required?
